Easter Lily Mittens
Did you ever have a “spring coat”? I did, every year when I was a little girl. I alway think spring it here in March, but my mom always reminded me that we needed to wear a coat well into May on most years. Grandma bought my sister and me spring coats just for this purpose. We wore them to church on Easter and then for the rest of the season. The colors in these mittens reminded me of that and the traditional Lithuanian flower motif, which you might see as a lily or a tulip, is a perfect reminder that spring is on the way.
The mittens are made with a hemmed cuff and a lacy picot turning ridge that creates a delicate edge to go along with the pastel colors. Worked in lightweight yarn, they are warm with the stranded colorwork but also lighter than heavy deep-winter mittens that you need for shoveling snow in January.
