Easing Flow - Mittens, Mitts, Fingerless gloves
EASING FLOW - MITTENSMITTS, FINGERLESS GLOVES
Following the great response I received to my Easing Beanie I decided to design matching mittens, mitts and fingerless gloves.
YARN
The large motif doesn’t allowed to have various sizes of such small accessories
like mittens or gloves. For this reason I used yarns of two different thicknesses.
I created 3 different versions for each size: Mittens, Mitts and Fingerless gloves.
For size S/M I used Jamieson & Smith 2 ply jumper weight (100% Shetland
Wool; 115m / 125yds per 25g ball).
For size M/L I used WYS Colour Lab DK (100% British Wool; 225 m / 245 yds
per 100 g ball).
Shades and quantities used in the samples:
Size 1:
Jamieson & Smith - Mittens: Shade 123 (Cool Mid
Purple) (A) - 18g; 202 (Light Fawn) (B) - 24g
Jamieson & Smith - Mitts: Shade 72 (Mid Salmon
Pink) (A) - 15g; 202 (Light Fawn) (B) - 16g
Jamieson & Smith - Fingerless gloves: Shade FC39 Mix (Blue
mix) (B) - 14g; 202 (Light Fawn) (A) - 20g
Size 2:
WYS Colour Lab DK - Mittens: Very berry (A) - 34g; Natural cream (B) - 42g
WYS Colour Lab DK - Mitts: Harbour Blue (A) - 29g; Natural cream (B) - 30g
WYS Colour Lab DK - Fingerless gloves: Natural cream (A) -
23g; Perfectly plum (B) - 38g

I used 3.25 and 3.50 mm needle(s) for Jamieson & Smith yarn and 3.75 and 4.00 mm for WYS Colour Lab DK yarn.
PATTERN NOTES
All three designs are worked from the bottom up. After the corrugated rib cuff, the hand is worked in stranded colourwork, with an integrated thumb gusset. The thumb top is completed at the end. The mittens’ thumb top is completed at the end. The mitts’ thumb is worked separately. The fingerless-glove four half-fingers and thumb are worked separately.
CHART NOTES
Due to the odd number of repeats, and in order to create two mirroring gloves these patterns have charts for left and right hands, which include cuff, thumb gusset, palm and back of hand. Ensure you are working from the correct hand chart, and read the charts from right to left throughout.
PLEASE NOTE: the pattern is for personal use only
