Designer’s notes:

The inspiration for this scarf comes from Estonian lace knitting traditions. Taking their ideas from known patterns, the knitters in Haapsalu change, add or subtract from a pattern to make a new pattern, a variation of the original. I worked in this manner, taking the Flower Pattern from The Haapsalu Shawl by Siiri Reimann and Aime Edasi (Saara Publishing House, Türi, Estonia, 2009), and changing it to suit my original idea for the scarf.
