To summarize the published pattern:
This pattern uses cables that turn horizontally and meet, forming patterns that were nearly impossible before. Sideways cables open up all kinds of design possibilities. All of the interlacings fit together without interruption.
The name comes from stonework found in Dunfallandy, Perthshire, Scotland, documented in J. Romilly Allen’s masterful work, Celtic Art in Pagan and Christian Times.
Plymouth Yarn would use up to 5 skeins of yarn for the baby blanket. The squares and triangles are worked separately, then sewn together. Stitches are picked up around the edges to work in the round for the borders.
The pattern is 32” square.
The wrong side of each row, except for the borders, is basically knit the knits and purl the purls after row 12, until you reach the end. The wrong side after a horizontal cable works through the back loop to tighten up the stitches.
