The Driftwood Jersey came about last spring, when walking on our lovely beach, and watching the children gather driftwood to make big elaborate forts. The waves were crashing in and surrounding their construction, mixing the blue waves and contrasting bone coloured driftwood. At this moment, the Driftwood jersey began to take shape. It is a moment of spring joy captured in this little easy and comfortable jersey.

The Driftwood Jersey is a top-down seamless yoked sweater with long sleeves. The yoke is cast on and worked down, the increases are worked in the stockinette sections around the lace stripe patterning. Once the sleeves are separated, the body is worked down in the same pattern with shaping options – either straight, waist and hip shaping or hip shaping only, until a 2x2 rib finishes it. The sleeves are placed back on the needles and the stockinette and lace stripe patterning is worked and a 2x2 rib cuff completes them. The neckband is picked up and finished again with the 2x2 rib and then bound off.

This is a great pattern for using up little bits left over in the stash, as not much is needed of the two contrast colours.
