Knit circularly from the top down, this poncho is a fun knit with it’s drifting leaves pattern and lovely finish of a stylized “old shale” edging. Knit in a worsted wool/linen blend, this cozy poncho would be perfect for long fall walks ….

The directions are charted and given round-by-round.

The sample shown used approx 800 yards of Cascade’s Rustic (79%wool/21%linen) in a lovely red-wine colorway.

Each leaf (measuring approx 2 x 4 inches) is worked with traveling stitches.

The nine leaf panels inc to one side of the each rep, forcing the leaves to gently drift down the poncho as you increase around.

The border is a stylized “Old Shale” stitch, worked for about 4-1/2 inches.

For a bigger version: the actual stitch count will work for most sizes to 5X (the overall circumference at the chest is approx 62 inches) but you might want to add to the length as the poncho will look shorter on larger bodies: add about 150-180 yards to the amount of yarn needed for this extra length (so instead of 800 yards, 980yds)
