Drift
Drift by Susanna IC is inspired by windswept snowdrifts creating snaking patterns in new snow. The twisting cables and garter stitch captures the textural and barren beauty of winter, bringing with it warmth and comfort. This shawl is worked from the top down and features a low-contrast color border, evoking the shifting colors of short winter days.

Notes from Susanna’ project: The cable pattern may look intricate, but it is really easy to work. The cables are mirrored on the two halves of the shawl and they all turn the same direction on each half, so once the pattern is established, it becomes a very simple project, perfect for some TV knitting. Thanks to the garter stitch background, the wrong side has interesting textures much like the right side, and the shawl lays flat even without major blocking.
