At the time between winter and spring, when you feel that sun gets more power, but the air is still fresh and icy – at this time I literally dreamt of a warm and cozy cardigan which hugs me and that has a different look than the “Oh-look-I’ve-found-Grandpa’s-old-cardi”-thing at the same time.

The cardigan I dreamt of has a clean and simple look, but it offers also a tiny bit of extravagance:

• a collar featuring a decorative plait pattern that is continued organically into a button loop,
• buttons placed asymmetrically at the neck
• trumpet sleeves and hem ending with the same cable stitch pattern as the neckband (In case that you don’t like this kind of sleeve, the pattern provides also instructions to work the sleeves nearly straight.)

“Dreaming of Aisling” (Irish Gaelic for “dream”) can be worn at some of the sunnier days outside and on colder days inside to stay warm.

Construction
Dreaming of Aisling is worked seamlessly in rows in one piece from the top-down using elements of the contiguous method. Additional body increases are worked in the upper body to improve the fit.
After the sleeve stitches are placed on hold, body and sleeves are worked down to the hem resp. cuffs. The cable knit edging is attached seamlessly to the body/sleeve stitches.

The neckband could be worked at any time.

Zu einer Zeit zwischen Winter und beginnenden Frühjahr, wenn die Sonne spürbar an Kraft gewinnt, die Luft sich jedoch noch frisch und eisig anfühlt – genau zu dieser Zeit habe ich von einer Strickjacke buchstäblich geträumt, einer Jacke, die mich warm einhüllt und trotzdem einen anderen Look hat als Großvaters alte geliebte Strickjacke.

Die Strickjacke in meinem Traum hat klare Linien, aber auch einige interessante Details:

• ein Zopfmuster am Hals, das in Knopfschlaufen organisch fortgesetzt wird,
• asymmetrisch gesetzte Knöpfe nur am Hals
• Trompetenärmel und Bodyabschluss, die mit dem gleichen Zopfmuster wie am Hals enden. Alternativ kannst du die Ärmel auch enger enden lassen – die nötigen Anweisungen dazu findest du in der Anleitung.

“Dreaming of Aisling” (“Aisling” ist das irisch-gälische Wort für “Traum”) kann sowohl an sonnigen Frühjahrstagen draußen getragen werden, aber auch an kalten Wintertagen drinnen.

Konstruktion
Dreaming of Aisling wird nahtlos von oben nach unten in einem Stück gestrickt. Dabei werden Elemente der contiguous-Methode eingesetzt. Einige zusätzliche Zunahmen am oberen Body optimieren den Sitz.
Nach der Ärmelabtrennung werden Ärmel und Body separat bis zu den Bündchen gearbeitet. Das abschließende Zopfmuster wird dabei an die jeweiligen Maschen angestrickt.
Das Zopfmuster am Hals kann während des gesamten Arbeitsprozesses gearbeitet werden.
