Pattern description from Mason-Dixon Knitting: “Where did this dragon come from? Cristina explains: ‘The colors of the Kureyon inspired the dragon jacket. I’m very much a dive-right-in knitter. I love that Noro yarns don’t have names but only numbers so you’re not persuaded by a title to use the yarn a certain way. The blue-green said ‘dragon’ to me, and I was sitting down with a piece of graph paper within minutes to work out the intarsia on the back.’ The Dragon Jacket is designed for size 18-24 months, with a waist measurement of 27 inches when closed. You can use a different jacket and adjust the knitted embellishments to fit. To adjust the length of the waistband edging, knit more or fewer garter-stitch points, checking for correct length by holding or pinning the edging against the bottom hem of the jacket as you knit. For the back and front patches, you need not make any changes to the intarsia charts; add or subtract background stitches or rows around the edges of the pieces so that they will fit onto your jacket, bearing in mind that each inch (2.5 cm) equals 5 stitches or 7 rows.”

Optional Lining: “For extra warmth, felt an old wool sweater to line the inside back of the jacket. Cut a sweater piece the right width and approximate length, and attach to the bottom edge using blanket stitch. Then cut the top edge to fit more precisely, and whipstitch the remaining 3 edges of the lining into place.”
