Downtime
This pattern is for a light spring/summer scarf.
Sometimes you just want to knit something relaxing and let your mind wander, but not endless rows of garter stitch. Knitted lengthwise so that you can get into a rhythm, each of the six bands is different, giving texture as well as colour and keeps the knitting interesting. The stepped growth of the bands add a little extra flair to the ends of the scarf.
The pattern includes two options for length, with different ordering of the bands/colours to optimise your yarn usage if using 50 gramme skeins. You will also need scraps of two accent colours.
Although written for two main colours and two accent colours you could use this pattern as a real scrap buster, making each band a different colour.
The long sample used two different colourways of Drops Delight for the main colours, a yarn with long colour repeats that works very well with the long rows of this design, and sock yarn scraps. The shorter version used Drops Alpaca for all four colours.
Each band is charted using StitchMastery and the pattern has full written instructions.
Stitches used: k, p, s1 wyif, s1 wyib
The short sample does not exactly match the final pattern as improvements were found when making the long sample which have been incorporated and indicated in the pattern.
