The Douglas Fir, an evergreen conifer, is the Oregon state tree. This vertical, textured zig-zag pattern reminded me of a stand of these proud and full-limbed trees. Portland proudly displays many old growth specimens within its city boundaries. The bright green color of this cowl mimics the new spring growth of its needle like leaves.
