An entertaining sock pattern that features interesting lace panels which resemble a double helix.

Pattern contains instructions for toe-up as well as for cuff-down construction. Choose your favorite method of knitting socks. Hints for resizing and alternative heel and toe construction are given.

Instructions are given for using either fingering (regular sock yarn with yardage of 410m/100g) and medium fingering weight yarn (yardage of 300-350m/100g). Both sets of instructions work up to socks in size EUR 41/42 (UK 8-9, US Wo 10-11) .

Lace pattern is provided in chart form only. It’s a lace pattern with a repeat of 44 rows. This needs to be taken into account when resizing socks in length. Hints are given in the appropriate places in the pattern.

The double helix pattern works well in either solid or semi-solid yarns. Or you might want to try them in one of these new fancy sock yarns that sport very long color repeats like Schoppel Zauberball or Regia Hand-Dye Effect. The slow and long color gradations usually don’t disturb lace patterns opposed to self-striping yarns.
