This unisex sweater is the perfect blend of modern simplicity in the yoke and lower body, and bold texture in the fun diamonds. It’s the perfect everyday pullover! The intricate diamond pattern in two contrasting colors is eye-catching and the sweater has a straight-body silhouette, perfect for any activity child! And the best part: there’s no seaming, and the diamond pattern has intricate picture instruction! It’s all worked in the round, so you won’t have a single stitch to sew! Pick up the Adult version and you can make one for the whole family!

You can use any DK (#3) weight yarn. I used Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday DK in colors White, Cobalt, and Porcelain Blue.
You’ll need 250-850 yards of main color and 25-75 yards of each accent color.

For a while now I’ve wanted to make a Nordic-type sweater, but with texture! This is the result. In Nordic sweaters you tend to see lots of diamonds and colorwork, and I figured that post stitches might be a fun way to get that idea across, without actually carrying multiple colors at once (except for one row where I do that – but that’s not too bad! ;-) ) I kept the yoke top and lower body simple with hdc in the round, to give a more flat and seamless look, which allows the diamond texture to really shine!

As I mentioned, this top is made without seaming. You start working in continuous rounds for the yoke, including the split for the body and arms. The diamond pattern is also worked in the round, tho not continuous, and the post stitches take some time and effort to do. The lower body is again continuous rounds of hdc, which means it goes super fast once you’re past the diamonds!

This lovely sweater comes in child sizes 6m (16”) to 14/16 (32”), and fits with positive ease. You will need a basic understanding of the crochet stitches chain, slip stitch, half double crochet, half double crochet 2 together, and written instruction is given for stitches Front Post Treble Crochet two Together and Front Post Popcorn.
