The “DOROTHY” hat - perfect for crisp Fall days
Knit in the round in a simple textured pattern, this hat will knit up in no time. The sunflower, leaf, and shaft of wheat are knit separately and sewn on.
- The sunflower “petals” are crocheted*
THE BASICS
• Pattern includes 6 sizes: Newborn / 3-6 months / 6-12 months / Toddler / Child / Adult
• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms
• Instructions are for knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles
• Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE
• Sunflower “petals” are crocheted
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED
• Knitting in the round
• Basic increases and decreases
• Knitting I-cord
• Basic crochet stitches (chain, slip stitch)
SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED
• Approx. 90 to 180 yds (82 to 165 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for hat
• Approx. 10 to 20 yds (9 to 18 m) of Sport-weight yarn for sunflower, leaf, and wheat
• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) 12” or 16” circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size 2 (2.75 mm) double-pointed needles
• U.S. size 3 (2.1 mm) crochet hook
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle
