Yarn Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted (100% wool; 220 yd 20 1 m/3 ½ oz 100 g): #13107 Cedar (MC), 5 (6, 6, 7) skeins; #12502 Smoke Heather (CC), 2 (3, 4, 4) skeins.

Needles Size 5 (3.75mm) 24” circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Stitch holder; removeable stitch marker s (m); tapestry needle; size E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook.

Gauge 16 sts and 40 rows = 4” in body pattern. 26 sts and 28 rows = 4” in k2, p2 rib.

• The body of this poncho is knit in two identical panels that begin at the lower front and go over the shoulders to the lower back. The neck trim is knit in two separate pieces that are joined together to become the center back panel. Sleeves are knit separately and sewn to the body.

• For the brioche stitch body panels, each row is worked twice: once with MC, then once with CC. Two RS rows are followed by two WS rows. At the end of every MC row, slide work to other end of needle. At the end of every CC row, turn work.

• In brioche stitch, when counting stitches, each slipped stitch with its companion yarnover counts as one stitch. When counting rows, one visible row counts as two rows.
