Don't Tread on My Toes
There are five pdf files - the main pattern written instructions, plus four separate sets of charts. Enjoy!
This pattern was designed for Sock Madness 10. Many thanks to the inspiration from those in Sock Madness 9 for inspiring me to write my first pattern.
During Sock Madness 9, my least favorite time was commuting – you can’t drive and knit. However, during this time I was free to let my imagination wander and my eyes were busy taking in images from the road. Since knitting socks was what I wanted to be doing, I started taking patterns from vehicles, road signs, and pavement and thinking about how I could put them on socks.
There are four socks in this pattern. Style A is the simplest and B, C, and D are progressively more complex. Knit toe-up with a double gusset on the sole to hug the heel, each sock style has the same number of stitches and the same structural pattern with two color-work sections separated by ribbing and ending with a rolled cuff. The difference in the patterns is the complexity of the stitches and color-work pattern design. The more complex designs include lace, a slip-stitch cable, and/or vertical stranding.
