Donnie's Hat
I was asked to make a warm winter hat for a friend, and… this is it. A simple construction with a fold-up ribbed band for a warm head, and a few slipped stitches to make it interesting. It is quite stretchy and fits the average teenage to adult head from 20-24”. (For smaller heads, you can cast on fewer stitches after doing a little gauge-math, and knit fewer rows as needed.)
Techniques needed are the ability to knit in the round, whether on a short circular needle and/or double-pointed needles, or your favorite two-needle or magic loop method. Beyond that, simple knit, purl and slipped stitches. The suggested yarn is what I’d consider a light worsted weight, so please check your gauge!
As this was a gift for a friend, I’m also offering this pattern for free for your gift and charity knitting. Please pass on the good hat karma to others.
