A cosy cowl, knitted in the round, using a selection of traditional Shetland lace patterns with a pretty edging that can be blocked into soft or more dramatic points.

Knitted in a laceweight or 4-ply yarn, there are pattern stitches on the majority of rows but, as it only uses basic lace stitches and is worked in the round, and therefore with the knit side facing, it is suitable for knitters with some experience of lace, or intermediate knitters.

The pattern can easily be adapted to make a larger circumference cowl if required - double the length to wear as a loop, scarf-style, or wrap twice around the neck; or increase in smaller increments if required.

Corrections:
There is an error in Round 1, Section A in the written instructions of v1.0. There is a “sl1, k1, psso” missing before the k3 at the start, before the repeat. This has been corrected in v1.1.

In v1.1 Section B Round 1: there is a “ka” at the end of the first row of text which should read “k1”. (The chart is correct) This has been corrected in v2.0.
