Dochu La Shawl
Travelling recently to Bhutan, home to some of the highest mountains in the Himalayas, was the trip of a lifetime. Dochu La is a key mountain pass in Bhutan with a stunning panoramic view of the snow-capped Himalayan Peaks.
Dochu La Shawl is a triangular, asymmetric lace shawl, worked sideways in one piece. Gradient yarns work especially well for this pattern.
The pattern is written for one size only, but the size is easily adaptable by working fewer or more repeats of the main pattern in Chart 3. Single coloured as well as gradient yarns are recommended.
The sample shawl shown here is made with approx. 766 yds (700 m) of lace weight yarn. Other yarn weights are possible; simply adjust the needle size and yardage requirements.
Measurements for the sample shawl:
Width: 47” (120 cm)
Length: 59” (150 cm) after blocking
The pattern instructions are in the form of charts and as fully written instructions.Only basic increases and decreases are required.
