Garment is meant to be worn with up to 7” positive ease

The sizing on this design is rather flexible. It is meant to be lose and relaxed. The mostly open side allow for freedom of movement. The model shown is wearing the poncho with 3 inches of positive ease in the bust.

Dirty Chai is a long tunic length poncho. The model (it’s me!) is 5’ 6” and the number of repeats worked (size Medium/11 total length repeats) creates an almost knee-length garment. The buttons on the sides are non-functional. There are instructions for a reinforced buttonhole in the stitch guide if you want to place real button holes on the front of the piece. If you do this I would suggest placing the first buttonhole after third 16-row repeat of the front (or the second repeat if you plan to subtract repeats for a shorter garment).

The yarn used for this design comes in 250 grams skeins. The approximate grams for each size (if the same number of repeats is worked as the pattern states) is: 685 (748, 815, 930, 984, 1,040). The medium size (748 grams) comes very close to needing an additional skein. Keep this in mind when choosing yarn.

Sample is shown knit in the Medium (to fit up to 40” bust) on a model with a 37” bust.

Errata (corrected on current PDF)
The pattern PDF says the “yardage” for each size is 685 (748, 815, 930, 984, 1,040). This is not the yardage. It’s the GRAMS! This is has been corrected on this page and in the current pattern PDF (updated 10:30 PM October 2, 2016)
