Dicentra is the genus of flowering plants commonly known as bleeding-hearts, which the string of not-quite-heart-shaped cables on these socks remind me of.

The pattern assumes familiarity with cabling and basic cuff-down sock construction techniques. It will go a lot faster if you know how to work cables without a cable needle - I have not included a tutorial for this in the pattern since there are a number of good ones, such as this one, already available. The cable pattern is currently provided only in charted form.

Three sizes are included:
Small/Medium (66 stitches, to fit approximately 8 inch foot)
Large (72 stitches, to fit approximately 9 inch foot)
Extra Large (78 stitches, to fit approximately 10 inch foot)

These fit considerably tighter than a stockinette sock with the same stitch count and the cable pattern is fairly inelastic, so if you are between sizes it’s best to choose the larger one and/or use needles one size larger.

If you’re printing the pattern in black and white, you’ll want to make note of the highlighted columns on the chart.
