Diana the Cat
** DIGITAL PATTERN ONLY, no physical item will be shipped **
Diana the Cat celebrates the Day of the Dead. From her ‘skull eyes’ adorned with big, black eyelashes to her colourful costume and flowers. She is my cute, cat-take on the celebration!
Diana is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Diana is approx. 12cm tall.
You will need:
- 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, 50g WHITE, small amounts of PURPLE, BLUE, PINK, SOFT PINK and BLACK
- BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
- A pair of 12mm cat safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item.
- I’ve used the following yarns: o WHITE = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 001 White o PURPLE = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 016 Orchid o BLUE = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 039 Turquoise o PINK = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 013 Raspberry o SOFT PINK = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 012 Candy Pink o BLACK = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 060 Black
- I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
