Diamonds and Roses Shawl
This medium sized triangular shawl is worked from the bottom tip up to the top of the shawl. The shawl consists of an outer seed stitch border, an inner diamond pattern border and a central roses pattern.
The shawl starts from a single stitch on which the seed stitch border is created. The seven charts are then worked in order to the top of the shawl. The shawl is then finished with a final seed stitch border and is cast-off using an elastic cast-off.
The shawl is 168 cm (66 in) across the top edge of the shawl by 84 cm (33 in) down the center. To make the shawl larger, you can knit it with larger needles, or make additional repeats of the third chart with small modifications to the chart. The patterns explains those modifications.
The shawl is knit in fingering to sport weight yarns, using about 500 m (550 yds). Heavier yarns will need more yardage.
The rose coloured shawl was knit by my test knitter Joan, who is joanknits here on Ravelry.
Revision 1, August 2008
The charts have been redesigned and split onto four 8.5 by 11 inch pages instead of being on two 11 by 17 inch pages. These pages can be taped together for ease of use.
Three small omissions on the charts have also been fixed.
If you have previously purchased this pattern and wish to get the updated charts please contact Danny Ouellette at danny@doknitting.com.
Update February, 2012
The pattern is available for purchase on Patternfish. The PDF on that site is the revised edition, but with the charts still on 11 by 17 inch tabloid size pages. If you prefer to get a copy of the charts on the letter sized pages please contact me and I will send that version of the pattern to you.
Update December, 2013
This pattern is now available as a Ravelry download. It is available with both the letter and tabloid page sizes of the charts.
