Devil's Backbone
When talking about lace patterns, the term “mindless lace” doesn’t get thrown around all that much. Most lace patterns require a fairly high level of concentration that doesn’t make them very conducive to knitting at a boisterous stitch night or while watching a murder mystery on TV. The goal with this piece was to make a pattern that looked far more complicated than it actually is to work up. Inspired by the simple zig-zag of the Devil’s backbone plant, this half-shawl-half cowl makes for a light and airy accessory.
Skills required: knitting in the round, increases and decreases, yarn overs, casting on and binding off.
Pattern includes row by row instructions as well as a pattern schematic.
Errata: Round 77 should be omitted.
