Derwentwater
by Tess Young
This pattern is available from Payhip via the pattern website above and from LoveCrafts here
This pattern is designed as a beginners shawl combining a simple 2 stitch 4 row textured pattern repeat with a 9 stitch 8 row lace repeat. The pattern is easy to remember and work, making it a quick knit for more experienced knitters.
It is named after Derwentwater in the Lake District, England and the stich patterns represent the ripples of the water on the lake and the peaks of the surrounding hills.
My sample is made from a a BFL sock yarn dyed locally by Vikki at Eden Cottage Yarns - in the colourway ‘Night Sky’ - it’s gorgeous to knit, blocks beautifully and is wonderfully soft.
