You always need a simple, classic sweater. It’s the one you pull out time and time again, because it’s dressy for so many things.

The sweater here is knitted from top to bottom with a boat neck shaped with a little W&T. When the neck is shaped, knit the front and back pieces, which you gather under the arms. Bind off at the bottom with Italien bind-off, pick up stitches in the armhole, and bind off at the bottom of the sleeves.
The chart is quite easy to remember.

There are Italian cast-ons and bind-offs, German short row and knit and purl.
