Demne
French translation available here, with thanks to Christine73
Demne is a first size baby cardigan worked from cuff to cuff in one piece. The seed stitch bands at hem, wrist, and neck, and the seed stitch button and buttonhole bands, are all knitted-in. The neck is wide for ease of dressing your little one.
Knitted in Roman stitch from above the left cuff across to the right cuff. The seed stitch left cuff is then knitted back from a provisional cast on. The bands of seed stitch at hem, front and neck, and the seed stitch right cuff, are knitted-in as you go. A provisional cast on is worked at the right button/
buttonhole band in order that this edge may subsequently be bound off to match the bound off edges of the left button/buttonhole band and the cuffs.
Requires just 100g of yarn.
Note: the left front must be begun with the second ball of yarn so if your chosen yarn comes in a 100g skein it will be necessary to wind it into two balls.
Demne really is free, not a penny to pay. But if you’d like to knit a Demne and you do have some pennies to spare perhaps you’d consider popping over to p/hop and making a teeny donation to Médecins Sans Frontières that will benefit babies who are almost certainly less fortunate than the little one you’re knitting for. Thank you.
