Delusions Op-Art Shawl
Op art, short for “optical art,” is a dynamic form of art that employs visual trickery. It came to life in the 1960s. The most highly recognizable pieces were painted in black and white, comprised lines and geometric shapes, and they convey the idea of movement. The eye perceives motion, and the brain sees what is not actually on the canvas. The paintings seem to vibrate, warp, flash, or otherwise “travel,” but of course it is the viewer’s brain doing all the moving.
The illusion is a little more difficult to spot when translated to the knitted stitch, but it is, indeed, there. And it makes for a stunning addition to your wardrobe. Great accessory!
