Delusion Rainbow Script
This is a companion piece to Delusion Rainbow.
The centre part is the complete opposite of illusion knitting. Usually, in illusion knitting, you see stripes when you look directly at the knitting and a picture when you look from the side. Here you just see plain grey from the side and RAINBOW appears when you look from in front.
The violet and indigo are perhaps not as bright as they should be but are all that was available during lockdown. The piece shown in the photos was made in Stylecraft Special DK and the colours never quite disappear when you look from the side. The yarn forms a slight halo of colour. Very smooth yarns, such as cotton, would be more effective.
If using DK you will need about 180 metres of grey (background), and about 30 metres of each of the other colours, to make a panel like the one shown. Any thickness of yarn can be used.
The pattern contains two sets of instructions. One is as shown, with rainbow stripes along the top and bottom. The other is just plain grey with the lettering.
The two patterns would be ideal to use together to make a large cushion or as panels in an afghan. Six panels would make a four foot square or you could go even bigger.
The narrow strip of lettering could be used with Delusion Rainbow to make a square.
