Owls are one of the most common and popular creatures in the wizarding world, and they play a pivotal role in wizarding society, namely delivering the post. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, there are several scenes that involved a great number of owls, including an early scene when a flurry of owls descends on Privet Drive, each attempting to deliver Harry’s Hogwarts acceptance letter. Later in the film, a great many owls are seen arriving at the Great Hall to deliver the post to their students. These scenes were mostly created digitally or in some cases with a mixture of stuffed owls, animatronics, and visual effects.

Worked in the round from the cuff up beginning with a Latvian Braid cast on, these traditionally-shaped Scandinavian-style mittens come in three sizes. Helpful post owls take shape with stranded colorwork around the cuff and on the hand side of the mitts, while letters closed with the red Hogwarts wax seal decorate the palm side and front. An afterthought thumb is worked at the end with another member of the Owl Post hiding on the thumb cap.
