Delish Cardigan
Photographs by Karen Pearson. Technical editing by Sue McCain.
This cardigan, meant to be worn open, is constructed in pieces from the bottom up with set-in sleeves. The body and sleeves are worked with a faced hem. The neckline is picked up and worked flat after seaming; it is encouraged to roll.
Handmaiden Yarns’ Lady Godiva is an absolutely scrumptious, lightweight blend of wool and silk. It produces a fabric that hangs away from the body, softly outlining curves, instead of clinging tightly. If you’d like to substitute a yarn, I recommend something with a similar fiber content. A similar yarn with a smaller pricetag (but same gauge) is Fleece Artist’s Woolie Silk.
If you’re using Lady Godiva, you will need approximately 4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8) hanks. If you’re using another yarn, you will need approximately 1099 (1185, 1277, 1354, 1466, 1537, 1646, 1795, 1983, 2116) yds/1007 (1085, 1169, 1240, 1342, 1408, 1508, 1644, 1816, 1938) m.
