Beginners friendly!
Dejima - was an artificial fan-shaped island in Nagasaki, Japan that served as a trading post for the Dutch in 1641–1854 years. For 220 years, it was the only point for foreign trade and cultural exchange with Japan during the isolationist Edo period (1600–1869), and the only Japanese territory open to Westerners.
The lace pattern at the top is imitating the fan and the overal pattern and construction - Japanise architecture.
