OR approx. 170 (200, 230)m / 186 (219, 252)yds of DK-weight yarn.

Gauge: 20 sts & 17 rounds = 10cm / 4” over main body pattern using 4.5mm hook, after blocking.
10 “ribs” (20 rows) = 10cm / 4” over brim pattern using 4.5mm hook, after blocking.

Hook: 4.5mm / US 7 crochet hook
Always use a hook size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Notions: Locking/removable stitch marker, tapestry needle.

Notes: Decrescendo is constructed from the bottom up by working the brim sideways in rows of rib before joining to form a round. Without fasting off, the body is then added in continuous spiralling rounds that decrease at the top to form the crown.

US crochet terms used throughout.
