Deciduous Stripes

My grandmother is a phenomenal quilter. Whether it’s a wedding, birth, or graduation, Grandma has a quilt for the occasion. Before I left for college my Grandma and I spent some time together as she taught me the basics of arranging the pieces and assembling them into a – mostly – flat, square whole. Although I never advanced beyond piecing blocks with ninety degree angles, my grandmother could produce the most improbable shapes and curves out of hundreds of tiny, straight seams. This blanket was inspired by the way quilt blocks go together. (One that I could totally do.)
