This lightweight lace tee is relaxed to wear, and relaxed to knit. You don’t even need to worry about putting it on the right way round; the symmetric boat neckline means it’s fully reversible, so the lace panel can be worn at the front or back.

The lace adds a bit of interest to a straightforward, simply constructed project. Knitted in the round from the bottom up, with a boxy silhouette and a recommended 10-12” of positive ease, the stocking stitch and lace is offset by garter stitch details at the hem, neckline, and sleeve edgings. The oversized, relaxed shape is accentuated by the drape of the plant-based yarn, making it a great warm weather knit.

With a seamless construction, sleeve edges knitted as you go, and shoulders joined with 3-needle bind-off, the Day Off Badge tee avoids all the little bits of finishing that can make a project drag on. And with only 12 stitches to pick up at each side of the neckline, and 6 stitches at each underarm seam, once you’re done knitting you really are mostly done.

Key information
The Day Off Badge tee is worked from the bottom up. After working a garter stitch hem, the large lace panel is placed, and the tee is worked in rounds until the armholes. The front and back are then separated – with stitches cast on at each end for the sleeve edgings – and worked back and forth in rows until the neckline. The centre boat neckline stitches are placed on hold while the shoulders and neckline are shaped with short rows and decreases, before shoulders are joined with a 3-needle bind-off. Finally, the neckline is finished with a garter stitch edging in the round.

This is a size-inclusive pattern, with 9 sizes designed to fit a range of bust sizes from 28-62in (70-158cm), 39-71in (98-178cm) finished garment size. Instructions are written as sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 8, 9, so make sure you’re following the correct instructions for your selected size.

Suggested yarn:
Fingering weight/4ply or sport weight yarn with mainly plant-based fibre content, or any fibre with plenty of natural drape. The green sample uses Kelbourne Woolens Mojave in Seafoam Green, (60% cotton, 40% linen, 169m/185yds per 50g), and the navy sample uses Midwinter Yarns Lithuanian Linen (100% linen, 450m per 100g) in 2.3 Marine.

Yarn requirements:
Size 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 8, 9}:
470 (525, 590, 660, 780) 845, 930, 1055, 1150) m / 514 (574, 645, 722, 853) 925, 1017, 1154, 1258 yds of fingering weight/4ply or sport weight yarn.

Suggested needles (and notions):

• 4mm (US 6) circular needles (at least 80cm/32in long) for body, and spare 4mm (US 6) needle for 3-needle bind-off
• 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles 60cm/24in long for neckline
• 4 stitch markers
• scrap yarn or stitch holders
• tapestry needle

Gauge: 19 sts and 27 rows to 10cm (4in) over stocking stitch, knit in the round using 4mm (US 6) needles
