Everybody knows a Dave, and everyone needs some plain Dave socks! These can be worked with either a heel flap or afterthought heel.
Yarn: Crafty Girl Merino Sock (100% superwash merino; 366m 400yds per 100g skein) 1 skein in Citrus
Small quantity of smooth 4ply waste yarn (for afterthought heel version only)
Needles: 2.5mm UK 13-12/US 1-2 80cm 32in circular needles or DPNs (or size needed to get correct tension) Stitch markers, Tapestry needle.
Tension: 36 sts and 50 rounds = 10cm 4in over st st
Sizes: Small (Medium, Large)
To fit foot circumference: 20.5 (23, 25.5) cm 8 (9, 10) in
Actual foot circumference of sock (unstretched): 18 (20.5, 23) cm 7 (8, 9) in
Length of leg to top of heel flap: 15cm 6in. Foot length is fully adjustable within the pattern.
The pattern gives instructions for a heel flap and an afterthought heel version of these socks. The heel flap version is shown in the photographs.
