A shawl designed by Jane Simants to celebrate the open moors of Dartmoor, interspersed with small streams, such as you may come across at Bellever, Dartmeet or Steps Bridge.

Knit in earthy greens, stony purples and blues, colours reminiscent of the natural moorland and tributaries, or go for deep peat brown and golden gorse for more of a striking contrast. Either way, this is an easy and fast-growing pattern, giving quick, rewarding results and keeping your interest until you cast off.

Yarn A: John Arbon Devonia 4-ply (388m per skein), 1 skein
Yarn B: About 100m of a contrasting or complementary 4ply yarn, this could be variegated. Lang Mille Colori Baby was used in the sample.

Needles: 3.75mm circular needles (30cm length straight or 80cm cable if using circular needle to knit flat)

Dimensions: approx. 30 x 195cm, shallow asymmetrical triangle shape.
