Dark Tide
This wrap was made with the intent of using yarn that is local to my land base. This yarn is grown and milled in Oregon, making it a ‘local’ yarn for me. Its footprint is much smaller for me to use than other yarns because it has far less to travel to make its way from farm to needles. When choosing a yarn to use, think of how far it had to travel to get to you.
I used the leather with the wool to give the work a more dramatic effect- you can use any sort of leather cord, or really any sort of material you wish. Think outside of the box!
Yarn:
2 skeins Imperial Yarn 2ply Mulespun Columbia in Black
25 yards 1/8” (3.2mm) suede lace
Needles:
6mm 29” circular or longer
10mm 29” circular or longer
Notes on gauge:
I used a needle size that gave a drapey and loose gauge. The needle size isn’t too important, as it doesn’t have to be a fitted garment- just be mindful to use needle sizes at least a few sizes larger than your yarn calls for as your main needle, and then one that is at least a few sizes larger than that one.
