Dark Princess Skirt
Who said that crochet skirts are boring? This one certainly isn’t.
Dark Princess skirt is a flirty lace skirt to wear over a petticoat, contrasting fabric skirt or leggings - or it looks great as an underskirt, with just a few rows of the lace peaking out.
This skirt is made to measure - no matter your size or waist to hip ratio, you’ll be able to get the right fit!
Instructions are given for fingering weight, but anything from lace to DK weight should work, heavier yarns might make the skirt too heavy, but if you want to try, let me know about the results, please.
Materials needed:
800 - 2000 m/875 - 2188 yds fingering weight yarn
purple sample, waistband 104 cm: 1000 m Zitron Trekking Handart (or sock yarn of your choice)
grey sample, waistband cm: 1200 m Schoppel Cotton Ball, colourway
If you use a different yarn weight, adjust hook sizes - smaller hook should give you a solid fabric in waistband pattern, larger hook should be about 3-4 sizes bigger
3.5 mm / US size E crochet hook for waistband
5.5 mm/US size I crochet hook for airy skirt
darning needle
1.25 - 2 cm/ 0.5-0.75” wide elastic, length to fit around your waist.
The pattern uses American crochet terms
Size: made to your measurements, so no restrictions in any direction
I wanted a crochet skirt that would look good with my goth outfit and especially my corset - but none of the patterns I saw where exactly what I wanted. So I just started to make my own and came up with this pattern.
I hope you like it
This skirt is made with a rather big hook for the yarn weight to make it really lightweight and airy
