Danica Cowl
Squishy from Anzula is aptly named — soft and luxurious, it begs to be worn around the neck. This tall cowl has a gentle flare at the base to ensure nice coverage around the neck, and it can be worn either slouched down or folded inside itself. Most of the cables can be easily worked without a cable needle, and Danica can be combined with any of the other pieces in The Virescent Collection to create a coordinating set.
This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.
Recommended Yarn:
Anzula Squishy, one skein — 80% superwash merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon — 385 yds (352 m) to 114 g per skein. Shown in colorway Avacado. Sample shown used approximately 385 yds (352 m).
Sizing:
22.5” (57 cm) around base and 21” (53 cm) around body, 12” (30.5 cm) high. Repeats can be easily added to or subtracted from height.
Gauge:
36 sts and 37 rows to 4” in cable pattern, centered over large motif, washed and blocked. (Gauge may seem tight, but remember that cables will pull fabric in significantly.)
Needles:
US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, 24” (60 cm) and 16” (40 cm) lengths.
PLEASE NOTE: I knit the sample with US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, but as I tend to knit fairly tightly, I’ve listed needles one size smaller. Pattern is not entirely dependent on gauge, but changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used. To meet these dimensions and to ensure enough yarn, be certain to use needle size that gives gauge.
Other Materials:
Ten stitch markers (1 - beginning of round, 4 - to mark pattern repeats, 5 - to mark slipped sts), cable needle in appropriate size, tapestry needle.
Skills Needed:
Knitting in the round, cabling, ribbing
