Dancing on Flowers Hat
I loved the flower socks so much that I decided to design a
hat to go with them. This hat uses a gradient and a solid yarn, but would be equally lovely using up leftovers like the socks. It is intended to be a slightly slouchy hat, but knit and wear it to your preference: form-fitting like a beanie or blocked as a tam…make it your own style!
Sizes: Finished head circumference: 18 (20, 22, 24) inches 45 (50, 55, 60)cm. Needles: One 16-inch (40cm) US #2 (2.75mm) circular needle and one set of four or five US #2 (2.75mm) double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 8 sts and 10 rnds to the inch (2.5cm) on US #2 (2.75mm) needles over stranded knitting.
Yarn: Sample hat uses Crystal Palace Mini Mochi and Mini Solid, 80% merino, 20% nylon, 197 yds (178m) to 1.76 oz (50g).
Main color: Mini Mochi Neptune Rainbow (color 108).
Contrast color: Oyster Grey (color 1506).
Sample (size 22”) used approximately 125 yds of each color.
Note: This yarn has been discontinued; substitute the fingering-weight yarn of your choice in a gradient for the Main Color and a solid for the Contrast Color.
