Dragons are popular elements in Celtic art and their appeal remains strong today. They are glamorous and dangerous, some are full of wisdom and magic.

Designing a dragon pattern for knitting is challenging, but the result is worth every effort. It involves a variety of cable stitches, increases and decreases and beaded dragon eyes.

New: All charts are now given as written instructions also.

The dragon cables are worked on the fronts and back of the coat on a reverse stockinette background. The sleeves, shoulder straps and button bands are worked in a pattern that resembles dragon scales.

The pattern is suitable for a wide range of DK weight yarns with good stitch definition. Merino, lambswool, mixed fibre yarns and even tweed yarns are recommended.
