You’ll only need little bits of yarn for the each part.
Hat (8.25 yds/7.5 m),
Nose (2 yds/1.8 m),
Beard (3.5 yds/3.2 m) and
Body (14 yds/12.8 m).

You can change the size of your Gnome by using a different size yarn and adjusting the hook to get a consistent and tight fabric.

The Gnome holding a gold crochet hook was made using Rowan’s Big Wool and Malabrigo Rasta with a size 9 mm hook. He came out approximately 9 inches tall.
