Curvy Crochet Cowl
For November 2013 Holiday Mystery Gifts Yahoo Group
This cowl is worked in two colors, in the round, beginning and ending with post stitch ribbing. It is worked in joined rounds, but uses the alternate turning stitch technique instead of chaining 3 to move up to the next round. The turning stitch is incorporated into the stitch pattern, further disguising the row changes, and creating a seamless appearance without a visible start of round.
Gauge is not critical- make sure that the fabric has the feel you like- and is not too dense. If you are using acrylic and plan to block and “kill” the yarn, I recommend you kill the gauge swatch first to see how the yarn will relax.
Sizing options: The height can easily be adjusted by working more or fewer rows of the pattern. The diameter can be adjusted in 2” increments by adding or removing multiples of 8 stitches.
The cowl pictured in the pattern was worked using 69 g of the main color, and 39 g of the contrasting color. The ribbed edges require approximately 30 g.
