The cumulonimbus socks are so named because the fluffy sproingy tonal grey yarn my sister dyed and handspun reminded me of stormy clouds. The lace in the pattern provides a little ventilation for the light sportweight yarn. The cables were inspired by cumulonimbus clouds which seems to grow vertically in columns. The socks have a slip stitch heel flap that, along with the heel turn, is reinforced with wooly nylon for durability with precious handspun yarn. For matching mittens, check out Cumulonimbus Mittens

Fiber: Paradise Fibers sock blend 80% superwash merino/ 20% nylon roving; color: bare, dyed with black beans; 5 ounces/142 grams. (438 yards/401 meters total spun)

The designer used 296 yards for a pair of medium sized socks with a foot length of 9”.
