Worked in pieces, with any bulky weight yarn that knits at 3 stitches to the inch, this is an easy pattern for a knitter’s first sweater.

Oversized, with drop shoulders, this coat is not burdened with buttonhole plackets or ribbing to add bulk. No tight shapes or constraints…. Close this sweater with a flexible number of buttons from 1-6, three-quarters of the way across your bust, for a slightly off-set look. At the neckline, you can button up tight against the chill or unbutton the top button for a folded over triangle. This coat will give you a cuddle when you need it and turn the thermostat down a little.

ERRATUM: In an early version of this pattern, it lists a US #10 needle as 6.5 mm, that is incorrect. It should be 6mm.
