ubism . Cubist paintings were not concerned with three-dimensional, realistic representations of their subjects. Rather, objects were depicted on a single, flat plane, with all “faces,” or surfaces, simultaneously visible. Historically, the term “Cubism” seems to have derived from Matisse’s description of the elements of a 1907 Braque painting as “cubes.”
How much more fun is it to actually knit a cubist-style tote bag than to read art history?
