I am shamefully easily amused. It’s really quite embarrassing. Tentacles are high on the list of things that entertain me. They manage to be both fascinating and just a wee bit frightening.

These socks are just swimming in tentacles. They creep up over the top of your foot and wrap stealthily around your ankle.

Don’t let the charts scare you away. They look much harder than they actually are. Once you’ve done the first few rounds, all you have to do is note what happens on the edges of the tentacles and knit blithely away for the rest of the round.

I strongly recommend cabling without a cable needle. It’s a skill worth mastering if it’s not already in your repertoire, and it will make these socks much quicker. None of these cables are large, which makes them easy to work without a cable needle.

Briar Rose Fibers Grandma’s Blessing 100% superwash merino; 600 yds/546m per 180g skein, 16 WPI, 1 skein (please note: this yarn is dyed in one of a kind lots, and there is no color name)

Set of four or five US 1 2.25mm double pointed needles or circulars for your preferred method of sock knitting
