Cruinne (pronounced roughly ‘krin-nyeh’, meaning round, globe, the world) is a reversible, buttoned cowl. Worked in double knit colourwork, it features a motif inspired by Iron Age finds discovered in 19th Century Ireland.

Stolen Stitches ‘Nua’ (60% Merino Wool, 20% Yak, 20% Linen; 153 yds / 140 m per 50g); colours:

Seasonal Option: Col A is Capall, Col B is Harvest Moon
Subtle Option: Col A is Chalk & Plum, Col B is Cerbellum

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US size 5 / 3.75 mm circular needle, 24” / 60 cm long for single colour
US size 3 / 3.25 mm circular needle, 24”/ 60 cm long for two colour if necessary
Always use a needle size that gives you the gauge listed, as every knitter’s gauge is unique. Note that not all knitters will need to change needles between different types of double knitting.
Removable markers, tapestry needle, 4 x 23 mm buttons, cable needle or dpn (large needle size or slightly smaller), optional yarn guide.
GAUGE
21 sts and 25 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in double knit colourwork, on smaller needle, after blocking.
21 sts and 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm in single-colour double knit fabric, on larger needle, after blocking.
