A ballerina-style top has the advantage of being not only attractive but also really practical. On a small baby the tie fastening can be a lot easier to achieve than trying to do up tiny buttons on a cardigan, especially when you are in a hurry. A lace edge, such as the one I have used here, adds a bit more decorative detail to a simple top.
